This category features the always popular Diamond Quality – or DQ – matchbook cover. The Diamond Quality trademark was a very early footer trademark of the Diamond Match Co. It was used between 1923 and 1936.

There appear to have been 7 different variations. This “quality” trademark charged through the matchbook industry. Eventually, there were a number of companies employing this tactic. Not sure if people thought it was a higher grade matchbook, but the implication was pretty clear.

American Quality, American Art Quality, Eddy Quality, Empire Quality, Stone’s Quality, Union Quality, among others employed this footer trademark.
